Erik Ring has been promoted to principal at LPA Inc. The LEED Fellow and LEED faculty member for the USGBC has been with the Irvine, Calif.-based firm for seven years. He was the firm’s first engineer and has proven himself as a leader in both mechanical engineering and sustainable design, according to LPA. Ring, who is LPA’s design director for MEP engineering, has consulted for and designed more than 50 LEED certified projects.
Leo A Daly, an international architecture, planning, engineering and design firm headquartered in Omaha, Neb., appointed Dennis Petersen, PE, as corporate president. In his new role, Petersen will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire company, which includes the Leo A Daly and Lockwood Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) brands. With 34 years of experience as a designer, manager and executive, Petersen has served as president of LAN for the past 16 years.
Carl Roehling, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, president and CEO of SmithGroupJJR, has been appointed to serve on the Joint Committee of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Composed of 10 AIA members and AGC members, the joint committee provides a forum for the design and construction community to discuss important issues related to the construction industry.
Don Anderson has been elected to the board of the Green Building Certification Institute, which administers certifications and professional designations under the USGBC’s LEED green building rating system. Currently the chief sustainability officer for Blackstone, an investment and advisory firm headquartered in New York, Anderson is responsible for developing sustainability initiatives for the firm’s portfolio companies.
Elizabeth A. Hunter, PE, AICP, LEED AP BD+C has been appointed senior associate of Leo A Daly’s Omaha, Neb., office.
Boston’s Margulies Perruzzi Architects has welcomed Roger Stein, AIA, LEED AP, as senior associate. With more than 25 years of experience in client management, architectural and interior design, master planning and construction administration, Stein has been responsible for the completion of a wide variety of projects. In his new position, Stein will manage MPA client projects and assist in business development and strategic planning for the firm.
Michael Mondshine joined the WSP Environmental as vice president of sustainability and climate change. Mondshine, who will be based in the firm’s Washington office, is the board chair for the Association of Climate Change Officers. Mondshine most recently served as chief solutions architect of sustainability at Leidos Inc. He delivered economic and environment solutions for such clients as Bank of America, Chesapeake Energy and the U.S.
Daniel Overbey, AIA, is a recipient of the 2014 AIA Young Architects Award from the American Institute of Architects. Overbey is currently the director of sustainable design practices at Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects in Indianapolis as well as an adjunct faculty member at Ball State University, at which he teaches environmental systems to second- and third-year architecture students.

ohn Mandyck, chief sustainability officer of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, has been elected chairman of the Urban Green Council’s board of directors. Mandyck, who previously served as the board’s co-vice chair, will continue to work with organizations and universities around the world to accelerate green building.
Josh Nothwang joined WSP Environmental’s Boulder, Colo., office as a practice leader for the firm’s sustainability and energy team. In his new role, Nothwang will lead WSP’s Sustainability Strategy offering, which helps clients develop comprehensive strategies, uncover opportunities to improve performance and overcome organizational challenges related to sustainability, according to WSP.
