Michael McKelvy has been named president and chief operating officer of Gilbane Building Company, a global construction and facilities-related services firm. McKelvy will be based in the company’s Providence, R.I., headquarters and assumed his new role in July. McKelvy most recently served as chief delivery officer, executive vice president for U.S. federal delivery and board member at CH2M HILL. A registered architect in 30 U.S.
Kevin Fettig has joined Level 10 Construction in Sunnyvale, Calif., as vice president operations. A construction manager for more than 25 years, Fettig has overseen many signature projects throughout California and internationally within the areas of technology, education, commercial office construction and residential housing. Fettig previously served as vice president of operations for Rudolph & Sletten.
The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers has named Joseph G. Burns, a managing principal at Thornton Tomasetti, an SEI Fellow. Burns joined Thornton Tomasetti in 1995, and has more than 30 years experience in building design and renovation.
Paul Hayhurst, project engineer at S. M. Wilson & Co. in St. Louis, has earned the LEED Accredited Professional credential from the U. S. Green Building Council with a Building Design + Construction Specialty. A LEED Accredited Professional demonstrates a solid, current understanding of green building principles and practices and shows a clear commitment to professional growth in the field, according to S.M. John Tran, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, has been hired as design principal at the Phoenix office of architecture, engineering and planning firm SmithGroupJJR. Tran will join the leadership team for the firm’s practice in Arizona and the southwest, while providing support to all SmithGroupJJR offices. He is an award-winning designer with 20-plus years of experience and has led projects as senior designer, project designer and design principal.
Christina Force, LEED AP BD+C, AIA, has joined the St. Louis office of HOK as medical planner in the health care practice. Force will plan and program interior spaces for health care clients. She is currently working on the BJC HealthCare and Washington University School of Medicine Medical Center Campus Renewal in St. Louis and the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Jeanne Qiu, AIA, CDT, LEED AP, has joined the St. Louis office of HOK as a lab planner in the firm’s Science + Technology practice. In her new position, Qiu will be responsible for the planning, programming and design of lab spaces for both university and corporate clients. She is currently working on the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) lab design in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia and office and lab space for BioGenerator in the CORTEX district in St. Louis.
Lord Aeck Sargent (LAS) has promoted John Kisner, AIA, LEED AP, former director of the firm’s Texas office, to a principal of the architecture and planning firm. Kisner joined LAS in 2008. He relocated from Atlanta in late 2011 to become associate director of the Austin office when the firm acquired the assets of TWC Architects, and became office director in 2013. Kisner attended Rice University, where he earned his master’s degree in architecture.
The Korte Company recently added Stacey Johnston to its design staff where she will support the architectural team as a design support specialist. Johnston holds a Bachelor of Science in architectural studies from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale as well as a Bachelor of Science in psychology/sociology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Wausau Window and Wall Systems has named Chris Bushman as an engineering manager. Bushman began with the company as a designer assisting with customers’ submission drawings, details and elevations. He was then promoted to applications engineer where he expanded upon his previous responsibilities taking leadership of customers’ submission package materials, and in training his colleagues on AutoCAD.
