Michelle DeLora, AIA, LEED AP, was promoted to associate at SchenkelShultz Architecture’s Orlando, Fla., office. A registered architect in the state of Florida with more than 19 years of experience, she joined SchenkelShultz in 2012. As a project architect and manager, she is an integral part of the firm’s Greater Orlando Aviation Authority general consultant team including leadership in the airport’s sustainability initiative.
The Green Building Initiative (GBI) announced Jerry Yudelson as its president to accelerate growth of the nonprofit and further leverage its green building assessment tools. Formerly the president of Yudelson Associates in Tucson, Ariz., Yudelson has authored 13 green building books, achieved recognition as a LEED Fellow and chaired the steering committee for the country’s largest annual green building show, Greenbuild.
Skanska USA promoted Elizabeth Heider to chief sustainability officer. Heider, who will continue to be based in Skanska’s Alexandria, Va., office, will lead Skanska’s efforts to support the company’s triple bottom line of sustainability — environmental, social and economic health. She has worked with Skanska USA for 12 years, primarily as senior vice president for green markets with Skanska USA Building, and also founded Skanska’s National Green Council.
Christoph Stump has been promoted to senior associate with New York-based Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP). Stump holds more than a decade of experience in his field specializing in passive design that minimizes energy consumption as well as accessible design. Stump has planned urban neighborhoods and designed residential commercial and community facilities. His projects with MAP include mixed-use developments, senior housing, multi-family housing and educational facilities.
Magnusson Architecture and Planning, based in New York, has promoted Fernando Villa, AIA, LEED AP, BD+C, from senior associate to associate principal. With more than 20 years of international design experience with a focus on sustainability, historic preservation, cultural institutions, adaptive reuse and residential projects, Villa specializes in LEED-certified affordable housing and mixed-use developments in New York City and the surrounding area.
Bryan Warner has been appointed to senior director of sales for MaxLite, a manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting fixtures and lamps. In his new position, Warner will be responsible for overseeing national sales support in the grocery, petroleum, big and small box retail and other industries throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Harvey Bernstein, vice president of industry insights and alliances at McGraw Hill Construction, has been appointed to the Corporate Advisory Board of the World Green Building Council. A network of national green building councils, the World Green Building Council consists of 25,000 companies in 98 countries.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) South Florida Chapter has appointed Sandra Lee, LEED AP+ of Calvin, Giordano & Associates (CGA), as president of the local chapter. Lee has 17 years of professional experience and currently leads CGA’s environmental services division where she coordinates regulatory permitting, environmental planning, site assessment, natural resource management and environmental technical support services.
Somer Spencer, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has rejoined the Orlando office of SchenkelShultz Architecture as an architect. With seven years of design experience, Spencer was most recently self-employed in Jamaica. She rejoins the company after having also worked in SchenkelShultz’s Tampa office for four years. Spencer holds a master’s of architecture from Florida A&M University and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
With more than 17 year of sustainable design experience and assistance in more than 30 LEED certified projects, Tim Murray has joined Houston-based WHR Architects as sustainable design leader. As sustainable design leader, Murray will strengthen the firm’s commitment to green facility design. He will also prepare WHR for the challenges of LEED version 4 and focus on the Stamford Health System New Hospital’s pursuit of LEED for Healthcare Silver.
