PITTSBURGH — Asset management and securities servicing firm BNY Mellon announced that its 525 William Penn Place facility in Pittsburgh has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in the existing building (EB) category.

Pennsylvania Company Earns LEED Platinum Award
LANCASTER, Pa. — The U.S. Green Building Council has awarded LEED Platinum certification to the corporate headquarters of Armstrong World Industries.
Built in 1998, the three-story glass-and-steel relies on wind energy for about 75 percent of its power, officials say. The facility has an energy consumption rate of 1.5 watts per square foot, which is half the average rate for comparable buildings in the United States.

PITTSBURGH — Slated to open in 2009, the new 780,000-square-foot Fairmont Hotel will be located at Three PNC Plaza. The mixed-use green building is being constructed by PNC Financial Services Group.
The hotel will occupy 12 floors of the 23-story building, adjacent to the Pittsburg Cultural Center . It will feature 185 guest rooms, 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, a lobby and lounge, an 8,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, and a restaurant.
