Walston, FAIA, LEED AP was chosen to serve the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects due to her contributions to the advancement of the profession and specifically for her achievements in laboratory and educational environmental design. The leader of the science and education practice group at Houston-based FKP Architects, Walston is known for propelling research and science education design.
Alan Shepherd, PE, LEED AP, the new vice president and director of the WSP Flack + Kurtz Built Ecology practice, is based at the firm’s San Francisco office. Overseeing the specialty practice, Shepherd will lead project teams to provide analysis, design and consulting to clients on issues related to energy and carbon, indoor environmental and water quality, as well as LEED.
Owner and founder of sustainability and green building consulting firm Trident Sustainability Group, Tommy Linstroth has been chosen to serve as a 2013 campaign co-chair for the U.S. Green Building Council.
Stephen Muzzy recently joined the U.S. Green Building Council Massachusetts Chapter as the new Green Schools Program manager. In his new role, Muzzy will keep focus on facilitating green school building coalition for higher education stakeholders to institutionalize LEED building certification in campus planning and capital budgeting processes.
Sean Stadler, AIA, LEED AP, a design principal, lecturer, juror and architect, was promoted to principal at WDG Architecture. Stadler has directed the design of many projects for the firm, including One National Harbor and Aloft at National Harbor in Prince George’s County in Maryland, as well as the Veridian in Silver Spring.
Lilian M. Sherrard, LEED AP, joins SchenkelShultz Architecture as an architect at the firm’s Orlando office. An eight-year design professional and registered architect in Florida, Sherrard holds a masters of architecture from the University of South Florida and has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2007. She formerly served as an architect and project manager at Jones Architecture in Tampa.
Shimokawa + Nakamura has promoted Peter Uchiyama, AIA, LEED Green Associate to Associate. Formerly with Kamehameha Schools, Uchiyama is a recent hire and is currently the project architect for the University of Hawaii Life Sciences Master Plan and Halawa-Luluku Interpretive Development.
An 18-year industry veteran, Mark Konchar, was promoted to senior vice president at Balfour Beatty Construction, where he will help lead the company’s areas of innovation, integration and energy. Overseeing the development and implementation of the firm’s best practices, Konchar will work with project teams across a national and global network. Most recently, the vice president of National Integration, Konchar holds a Ph. D.
After being promoted to vice president for Skanska USA Building’s northeast region, Norm O’Brien is now responsible for the environmental, health and safety plans of the company. O’Brien brings 25 years of experience as a construction safety professional to his new position. He has worked at Skanska for 13 years and operated as EHS director for the New England region for the past five years. He also served on the firm’s national EHS leadership team.
Jennifer Toba-Davila, AIA, DArch, LEED AP, has been promoted to associate at Shimokawa + Nakamura. Having worked for the company since August 2009, Toba-Davila currently serves as the project architect for the University of Hawaii Cancer Center LEED program. A LEED-accredited professional, Toba-Davila is a graduate of the University of Hawaii School of Architecture Doctoral Program with a focus on urban sociology and planning.
