LEED Silver Rec Center Expected to Revitalize Neighborhood
ST. LOUIS — On the city’s north side, work is under way on a $22 million, 79,000-square-foot recreation center designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
The O’Fallon Park Recreation Complex, scheduled for completion by the end of 2011, will be the second community center built in the city since the 1970s. The facility is being touted as a revitalizing effort for the impoverished North St. Louis, according to city officials.

SHANDONG PROVINCE, China — CNPV Solar Power, a Chinese manufacturer of solar photovoltaic products with offices in Luxembourg, announced that it has earned Underwriters Laboratory certifications in the United States and Canada for its premium range of crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic modules. CNPV now plans to open sales offices in Canada and California, where it hopes for a listing with the California Energy Commission, according to reports.
Q-Cells Partners with Starwood for Solar Project
GREENWICH, Conn. — Starwood Energy Group Global, a privately owned investment firm specializing in energy infrastructure investments, signed on to finance a 30 megawatt AC solar photovoltaic project in the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Partnering with Starwood is Q-Cells North America, which is in charge of construction activities and will procure operations and maintenance services post-completion.

DAYTON, Ohio — The120-kilowatt solar installation on the roof of Dayton Daily News distribution center, designed by Schott Solar PV, Inc. and Dayton-based Kastle Solar & Wind, is the largest solar installation in Southwest Ohio, according to planners.
The installation will meet approximately 60 percent of the building’s electrical needs. It consists of 528 photovoltaic solar panels manufactured at Schott Solar’s Albuquerque, N.M., facility. which employs more than 300 workers.
