DAYTON, Ohio — The120-kilowatt solar installation on the roof of Dayton Daily News distribution center, designed by Schott Solar PV, Inc. and Dayton-based Kastle Solar & Wind, is the largest solar installation in Southwest Ohio, according to planners.

The installation will meet approximately 60 percent of the building’s electrical needs. It consists of 528 photovoltaic solar panels manufactured at Schott Solar’s Albuquerque, N.M., facility. which employs more than 300 workers. Executive Vice President Tom Hecht stated in published reports that Schott Solar was committed to building a strong U.S. solar industry by creating American jobs from the manufacturing of the panels to their installation.

This was Kastles largest project to date since entering the solar industry in January of 2010. Mark Wiley, President of Kastle Solar & Wind stated in recent reports that he was very excited to see the growing interest and activity in the use of solar photovoltaic panels and sees tremendous opportunities for commercial customers to save money by installing clean, reliable solar.
