Alameda County’s New Courthouse to Open in 2017
DUBLIN, Calif. — A topping out ceremony was held on Sept. 18 for the East County Hall of Justice in Dublin. The ceremony marked 40 percent completion for the building, which broke ground in September 2014 and is on pace to open in early 2017.


LOS ANGELES — The new 100,000-square-foot life sciences building at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles opened in time for the school’s first day of classes on Aug. 31.
Architect Edwin Hargrave, AIA has joined Stantec as a principal in the firm’s Science & Technology Group. Based in Stantec’s Boston office, Hargrave is focused on helping the company expand its work designing state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. Hargrave has been planning and managing multi-million-dollar campus upgrade projects for the past 30 years.
International engineering and architectural firm Buchart Horn (BH) recently promoted W. Scott Loercher, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, to associate vice president of the firm’s Architectural Division. Loercher will be responsible for developing and carrying out a strategy for growing and demonstrating the expertise of the division. Loercher, who joined BH in 1995, has most recently served the company in the role of principal and director of design.
