EMP Museum Building Gains Green Recognition
SEATTLE — The EMP Administrative Office Building for the EMP Museum added another sustainable achievement to its record. The 51,200-square-foot, four-story office building recently gained LEED Platinum certification, was named the first Salmon-Safe-certified office building in Seattle and was also designated a 2013 ENR Best Project Award for office, retail or mixed-use developments.


Leo A Daly, an international architecture, planning, engineering and design firm headquartered in Omaha, Neb., appointed Dennis Petersen, PE, as corporate president. In his new role, Petersen will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire company, which includes the Leo A Daly and Lockwood Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) brands. With 34 years of experience as a designer, manager and executive, Petersen has served as president of LAN for the past 16 years.
Carl Roehling, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, president and CEO of SmithGroupJJR, has been appointed to serve on the Joint Committee of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Composed of 10 AIA members and AGC members, the joint committee provides a forum for the design and construction community to discuss important issues related to the construction industry.

Don Anderson has been elected to the board of the Green Building Certification Institute, which administers certifications and professional designations under the USGBC’s LEED green building rating system. Currently the chief sustainability officer for Blackstone, an investment and advisory firm headquartered in New York, Anderson is responsible for developing sustainability initiatives for the firm’s portfolio companies.
