UC San Diego Opens LEED Platinum-Designed Building
SAN DIEGO — The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is celebrating the completion of the new $113 million Health Sciences Biomedical Research Facility. Designed by the Portland, Ore., office of ZGF Architects and constructed by McCarthy Building Companies Inc, which holds local offices, the 196,000-square-foot building is aiming to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
Clean Technology Lab Building Breaks Ground at WSU
PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University has broken ground the new, state-of-the-art Clean Technology Laboratory Building. The 96,000-square-foot, $52.8 million facility will eventually contain the school’s science and engineering programs, and provide a space for students and researchers to tackle a variety of global and environmental challenges.

Global Study to Determine Benefits of Green Office Buildings
AUCKLAND, New Zealand — An international study to identify the health and productivity benefits of green buildings was recently launched by the World Green Building Council (WGBC). The study will provide clear details as to how green building strategies can positively affect the health and productivity of office building occupants as well as outline best practices to achieve results. The study will also develop a toolkit for office owners and occupants to better understand these benefits.
