Ohio City Puts Up $2 Million for Green Improvements

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus is offering $2 million in grants and incentives to encourage businesses in the city to make energy efficient upgrades, Columbus’ Mayor Michael Coleman announced. The funding also targets the cleanup of contaminated Brownfield sites.
 
The Green Columbus Fund and Green Switch Loan Fund each consist of $1 million.

Arizona Rec Center Awarded LEED Platinum

TUCSON, Ariz. — A recently expanded recreation center at the University of Arizona was awarded LEED Platinum certification. Designed by architectural firm Sasaki in partnership with M3 Engineering out of Tucson — and originally targeting LEED Silver — the completed project integrates passive solar, programmed outdoor space, daylighting strategies and indoor environmental quality as fundamentals of the building, according to reports.
