Ohio City Puts Up $2 Million for Green Improvements

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus is offering $2 million in grants and incentives to encourage businesses in the city to make energy efficient upgrades, Columbus’ Mayor Michael Coleman announced. The funding also targets the cleanup of contaminated Brownfield sites.
 
The Green Columbus Fund and Green Switch Loan Fund each consist of $1 million.
 
The Green Columbus Fund provides grants of up to $200,000 to companies for land acquisition on Phase I or Phase II Brownfield sites and can be used to make environmental assessments or be reimbursed for LEED certification costs with the U.S. Green Building Council.
 
The Green Switch Loan Fund uses federal dollars to offer low-interest loans for up to $200,000 for companies taking on energy efficient construction and renovation projects.
