Sustainable Power Corp. Seeks SEC Listing Upgrade
NATCHEZ , Miss. — Green power plant developer Sustainable Power moved to upgrade its status with the Securities and Exchange Commission when it engaged Gruber & Company as public company accounting oversight board auditors.
The move represents the initial step in the company’s plan to become a fully reporting, publicly held company with an upgraded stock market listing.
Therma-Green Wins Nanotech Insulation Distributorship for Florida
NAPLES , Fla. — Eco-friendly insulation group Therma-Green struck an international deal in April that is expected to boost the availability of nanotechnology to solve energy and climate-related problems in Florida ‘s industrial sector.
Under the deal, Industrial Nanotech Inc. granted exclusive state distributorship rights for its line of nanotechnology products to the Naples-based company, which specializes in energy efficient, moisture-resistant thermal insulation solutions.
Texas Company Looks to Conquer North American Bio-fuels Market
HOUSTON — H2Diesel enlisted the renewable-energy financing expertise of eBarton to launch the company’s alternative bio-fuel Throughout North America.
Prompted by an increase in bio-fuels consumption, the company sought eBarton’s assistance in marketing its bio-fuel to utilities and independent power producers.
Houston-based H2Diesel holds an exclusive manufacturing license to proprietary alternative bio-fuel technology that produces bio-fuel from renewable vegetable oils and animal fats.
Trane to Perform HVAC Upgrades at Southern California University
LOMA LINDA, Calif. — Trane was awarded a $6 million contract to upgrade the HVAC systems at Loma Linda University to help the school increase energy efficiency and meet state regulations for sustainable building.
The school’s two central plants, which serve the campus and the university hospital, have outdated equipment that that fails to meet state standards.
Colorado School District Saves $1.3 Million With Energy Program
LOVELAND, Colo. — Thompson School District saved more than $1.3 million in operating costs during the last three years due to a districtwide energy savings program.
In 2003, Winona Elementary and Turner Middle School entered a three-year energy savings performance contract with Siemens Building Technologies Inc. to increase energy efficiency and lower operations costs. The company benchmarked and tracked energy use at the district’s 35 buildings before implementing energy-efficient improvements at the two schools.
Managers Association Provides Top 10 Energy-Efficient Strategies
The Building Owners and Managers Association International offers 10 strategies, ranging from simple operational procedures to upgrades, for creating energy efficiency in commercial buildings.
1. Check that Equipment Is Functioning as Designed
Regularly inspect all equipment and controls to ensure they are functioning as designed. Double check energy management system programming to make sure that operations are optimized. One firm corrected an EMS software programming error from “And” to “Or” and saved $3,700 annually.

Bank Plans Second Green Roof in Denver
DENVER — UMB Bank Colorado , a chartered bank of UMB Financial Corporation, is building the second green here.
The roof will feature drought-resistant plants native to Colorado , including a blue spruce, the state tree.
The roof is designed to decrease the amount of rainwater runoff, and reduce water pollution and the urban heat effect.
