Synthetic Limestone

Blue Planet CaCO3 Aggregate is a synthetic limestone that has lithified to form limestone rock that contains 44% CO2. Each ton of CO2-sequestered limestone used in a project traps 440 kilograms of carbon dioxide, preventing it from accumulating in the atmosphere. Once the “carbon costs” of the production process are counted, the net CO2 sequestered in the aggregate is 40%, or 40lbs in 100 pounds of aggregate. As a manufactured aggregate, it is possible to control the physical properties, meaning the product can be lightweight or normal weight depending on the requirements of the concrete. Additionally, all Blue Planet aggregate is tested extensively to ASTM performance specifications and has been shown to perform comparably or better than existing materials.
