Biobased Upholstery

Sustainable textile company Carnegie has debuted the world’s first biobased, high-performance upholstery: Xorel Luxe, an outdoor and indoor fabric composed of boucle yarn made from sugarcane. Offering durable performance with a soft feel, Xorel Luxe blends performance and sustainability with innovative luxury. The material is bleach cleanable, stain resistant and antimicrobial, making it resistant to weather damage, mold, mildew and fading from prolonged light exposure. Xorel Luxe is also tear resistant and ideal for use in high-traffic outdoor spaces. The textile is 100% PVC-free and does not use “forever chemicals” such as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl. It is also Cradle to Cradle Gold certified, USDA Biobased Certified and Living Product Challenge Certified—contributing to LEED points.
