Portland Affordable Housing Development Achieves LEED Platinum
PORTLAND, Maine — Pearl Place II, a 55,978-square-foot, 54-unit apartment complex in Portland achieved LEED Platinum certification. Energy models estimate that the housing complex is 25 percent more efficient than standard buildings with similar characteristics.
It is the second phase of an affordable housing development in the city’s Bayside neighborhood. Construction on the project was completed in January 2013.

DUBLIN, Calif. — A robot is tending the solar field adjacent to the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, Calif. It moves along a rail underneath the solar panels to adjust them to face the sun, a process that takes about 40 minutes and then starts over again.
SAN FRANCISCO — The AIA COTE Plus Award, presented to architects who demonstrate excellent use of sustainable design elements, was awarded to locally based Aidlin Darling Design on Aug. 26.
NEW YORK — Lehman College Science Hall at City University of New York (CUNY) recently achieved LEED Platinum certification. The science hall was dedicated in October 2012 and opened for classes in time for the 2013 spring semester.
