Tecta Solar Completes Solar Array for SKF USA

LANSDALE, Pa. — Tecta Solar, a developer of commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects with more than 30 MWp installed nationwide, recently completed the installation of a 409.6-kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic system on SKF USA’s LEED Certified headquarters in Lansdale, Pa.

The project expects to generate 500 MWh of energy in the first year — enough to power about 48 Pennsylvania homes for one year.

The completed SKF USA headquarters is the result of an 18-month, $23 million brownfield redevelopment project designed for minimal environmental impact and reflecting the company’s long-standing commitment to global sustainability, according to a company statement.

SKF USA invested more than $1 million in clean, green and energy-efficient systems and materials, becoming the first commercial business in Pennsylvania to achieve LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors certification.

“Tecta was pleased to have been selected to install this system as part of SKF’s commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Ken Beiser, managing director of Tecta Solar. “An estimated 379 metric tons of CO2 emissions will be avoided each year, thanks to the solar energy produced by the system.”

A $345,000 Solar Energy Program grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority to helped fund the SKF USA project. Tecta prepared and submitted the grant application on behalf of SKF through a competitive application process.

“We were able to use our Pennsylvania-based roofing workforce from our local office in Glen Rock, Pa., to do the installation, maximizing local jobs,” said Pat Bollinger, project manager for Tecta Solar.

Tecta Solar provided the full-service solution and managed the project throughout its course, from development, design engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning of the roof-mounted project.
