Stet Sanborn, AIA, FASHRAE

Stet Sanborn, AIA, FASHRAE, received the Eunice Foote Decarbonization Award during ASHRAE’s Annual Conference in Phoenix in June. The annual award recognizes a society member for exceptional achievement, leadership and volunteer service to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment. Sanborn, an award-winning designer with a background in engineering and architecture, is director of Climate IMPACT (a national trans disciplinary team focused on Performance, Analytics, Sustainability, Climate Resilience planning and decarbonization) at SmithGroup. An advocate for net-zero-energy and net-zero-carbon engineering, Sanborn is a member of the San Francisco Mayors Building Decarbonization Taskforce for New Construction and serves on ASHRAE’s Decarbonization Taskforce’s Executive Committee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Kettering University and a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on building science.
