Solar Shading Panels

Sabic’s new solar shading panels made from lightweight Lexan Exell D polycarbonate sheets filter out direct sunlight to minimize solar gain and glare on computer screens. They also admit generous amounts of natural light and are expected to reduce building energy requirements and maintenance and lifespan costs, according to the company.

The Lexan Exell D sheet weighs half as much as glass and reduces the amount of material required for structural supports. It also provides 250 times the high impact strength of glass, according to the company, flame retardance for safety, and complies with glazing security impact resistance according to Pr EN 356. The panels are designed for dimensional stability, easy use and installation, and resistance to yellowing, graffiti and breakage.
