Green Chamber of Commerce Launches Southeast Office
LAKE MARY, Fla. — A commitment to sustainability by representatives of 10 businesses will kick off the launch of the Southeast regional office of the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce, with a ceremony scheduled for July 14.
The U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce, a national nonprofit organization, aims to empower businesses to achieve economic environmental and social sustainability.
The new office will serve businesses based in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and Louisiana.
"We are very excited to be playing a pivotal role in the economic development of local and regional markets that consider the broader, real world economy of efficiency and profitability," said Jennifer Barrows, executive director of the Southeast region.
Members benefit from increased organizational visibility, educational tools to improve operational performance and extensive networking opportunities, according to the chamber.
The launch event program includes an introduction for business owners and company representatives unfamiliar with the Green Chamber to some of the successful practices of several major national companies, according to chamber officials.
Companies who will share the profit potential of sustainable business practices include Lockheed Martin, Darden Restaurants, and the Automobile Association of America, among others.
"These national companies are at the forefront of a major paradigm shift that is reshaping how American does business," said Michelle Thatcher, national director and co-founder of the U.S. Green Chamber. "Successful corporations like these routinely save millions of dollars by using smart conservation practices."
The public is invited to attend the event, which will be held on July 14, from from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Burke, Hogue, Mills, Inc., 1130 Business Center Drive, Lake Mary, Fla. 32746 — a LEED certified building designed and owned by Burke, Hogue, Mills Inc.
