Read moreWASHINGTON — Several associations that develop the construction codes and standards used to create green buildings are working together to bring consistency to high-efficiency structures.
The groups include the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Mortenson surveyed corporate data center executives, data center developers and operators, and IT providers at the 2014 Data Center World Conference, which took place last September in Orlando. A majority — 84 percent — of respondents believe there is a need to consider renewable forms of energy, such as wind and solar, to manage energy needs, specifically power and cooling costs.
