Brian J. Hayes
Charles Perry Partners Inc. (CPPI) has appointed Brian J. Hayes as South Florida regional director/manager at its South Florida office in Vero Beach. Hayes rejoined the company in 2009, having earlier served as project manager from 1999-2003. Under Hayes’ leadership, CPPI recently completed modifications to the Indian River School District Thermal Energy Storage Plants.


Tom Hamilton joins BL Companies, an architecture, engineering, environmental and land surveying firm, as its new senior project manager for the company’s energy and utility infrastructure markets. Based in BL’s Meriden, Conn. office, Hamilton holds over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, which includes multiple engineering, construction management and operational disciplines.
Brad Glauser has joined Wausau Window and Wall Systems as its architectural sales representative, serving the Northwestern states of Washington, Oregon and northern Idaho. Glauser works closely with the area’s building owners, architects, general contractors and glazing contractors and is based in Everett, Wash.
In recognition for her leadership at the forefront of the green schools movement, and working to make healthy, energy-efficient schools accessible, Rachel Gutter received the World Green Building Council Chairman’s Award. Serving as director of the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, Gutter came to USGBC in 2007 to oversee the launch of LEED for Schools and spearheaded the National Green Schools Campaign.
Vice President of corporate research and development, Dr. Timothy Swales, has assumed the additional role of chief sustainability officer at Johns Manville. Swales’ previous positions within JM included director of research and development as well as director of innovation and commercialization for the engineered products business.
Helen A. Gurfel, an expert in real estate investment and sustainability, has been named executive director of the Urban Land Institute Greenprint Center for Building Performance. With a focus on individual building and portfolio performance on the basis of energy consumption and carbon emissions, Gurfel was most recently a director of GE Capital Real Estate’s global sustainability group.
Brianna Bell has joined Brady, a provider of energy efficient HVAC systems and comprehensive building solutions for commercial and industrial facilities across North Carolina, as a material coordinator for the company’s controls department. A 2012 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Bell comes to Brady with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a minor in communications.
Lisa C. Sachs, a managing principal at San Diego-based Cumming Construction Management, Inc., was recently inducted into the AIA’s College of Fellows. Sachs, a licensed architect and long-time active member of the AIA, was on hand to be recognized in person in Washington D.C. Sachs is also a certified construction manager and LEED green associate.
Kingspan Insulated Panels North America has chosen Joe Brash to assume the position of the firm’s new president. Brash has been with the company for several years and has most recently served as the managing director of its central and eastern European business. In his European role, Brash oversaw the Kingspan manufacturing plant as well as 35 sales offices in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Earth Advantage Institute recently hired Andre DeBar, AIA, SHP, LEED AP to head its new EA Remodel certification program. With over 20 years of architectural experience, DeBar focuses on green building strategies, including energy efficient and passive solar designs as well as resource efficient material selections. His work experience includes projects such as the Bacon-Brenes Residence and the Carstens Residence.
