NEW YORK — The city’s second-tallest skyscraper is now one of New York’s greenest buildings.
The Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan, home to the bank’s New York operations, achieved LEED Platinum certification recently, marking the first time in U.S. history that a high-rise commercial office structure has attained LEED’s highest green building rating. 

USGBC Launches LEED Neighborhood Development
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Green Building Council recently launched the LEED for Neighborhood Development green neighborhoods rating system.

Calif. Releases $961 Million for School Construction
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The state agency responsible for issuing funding for new public school construction and modernizations recently awarded $961 million to 185 schools seeking financing for construction and renovation projects.
Projects include more than $283 million for construction at overcrowded schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, $52.5 million for new construction in the Murrieta Unified School District and $41 million for new construction in the Adelanto School District.

WASHINGTON – A $900 million, 130-turbine wind farm planned for a site just off the coast of Cape Cod in the Nantucket Sound received final approval from the federal government, opening the door to building the nation’s first offshore wind farm and marking the end of a nine-year struggle to approve the project.
The Cape Wind project has undergone a comprehensive review by 17 federal and state agencies over the past eight years, and opposition from legislators, residents of Cape and islands, and other critics.
