New Construction Technology Helps Builders Reduce Planning Time & Costs

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Trimble, based in Sunnyvale, recently introduced office software, site positioning and machine control solutions that will help contractors maximize the technology used to complete construction projects.

This new trend in construction technology will have a major impact on green building as it enables surveyors, grade checkers, site engineers and foremen to do their jobs faster and more efficiently. It’s operated by a user-friendly interface that allows those working with the software to design construction sites at a decreased cost.

“Trimble has made it easier than ever for smaller contractors to take advantage of construction technology,” said Scott Crozier, director of marketing for Trimble’s Civil Engineering and Construction Division, in a statement.

The software also allows builders to increase productivity, eliminate mistakes and drive consistency, even when they’re working with those who have not yet used Trimble. That’s because Trimble’s interface is easy to understand and gives builders instant access to design and positioning information.

The program allows builders to make decisions instantly, troubleshoot site problems and manage daily operations all while organizing data for multiple crews, for rapid access and automated retrieval of information in the field or office.

Trimble Site Positioning Systems have also made significant improvements for smaller contractors. Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software has introduced two new capabilities, EZ Level and BaseAnywhere. EZ Level replaces traditional laser transmitters with GNSS (global navigation satellite system) or total stations for easy elevation checking when no design is available. BaseAnywhere allows contractors to quickly set up their Trimble SPS585 GNSS Smart Antenna as a base station anywhere on the site, with no survey control necessary, making it much simpler and faster for a non-surveyor to use GNSS.

The Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System can now be installed on many skid steer loader-grading attachments. This allows contractors to take full advantage of the technology on their machines while simultaneously helping to increase productivity and accuracy.

“With office software, site positioning and machine control solutions are designed to make the technology easier to use and more affordable. [In addition], site and utility contractors are able to enjoy increased productivity gains and efficiency that larger companies benefit from today,” said Crozier in a statement.
