TSA’s New Headquarters Aims for LEED Gold, 2017 Opening
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) headquarters is relocating from Arlington, Va., to Alexandria, and when the move is complete in 2017 the agency will occupy a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building.
EPA Launches New Tribal Green Building Toolkit
SAN FRANCISCO — The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the San Francisco-based Tribal Green Building Codes Workgroup announced on Aug. 17 a new toolkit to assist tribes in prioritizing and implementing healthy, green building policies and practices. The Tribal Green Building Codes Workgroup is comprised of representatives of tribal nations and federal agencies.
Jennifer Betancourt
Jennifer Betancourt, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has been promoted to associate in the Elgin, Ill. office of Dewberry. With more than 15 years of experience, she has broad expertise in the higher education, library, health care, campus planning, commercial, K-12 and aviation sectors. As a project manager, her skills range from programming and design development through construction administration. Betancourt earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Arizona.
Robert D. Flory
Skanska hired Robert D. Flory as senior vice president/account manager for the company’s building business unit in its Oakland, Calif., office. Flory joins Skanska after a 23-year tenure with Vanir Construction Management Inc., a Sacramento, Calif.-based construction firm where he served as chief operating officer. He brings significant project experience in the public, health care, education, justice and water/wastewater sectors.
Industrial Panels
ECOR Industrial Panels, developed and manufactured by Noble Environmental Technolo-gies (NET) Corporation, use a new technology that reduces conventional panel weight by up to 75 percent while retaining flexural strength. This is accomplished by configuring the ECOR components into various hollow geometric patterns in the core of the panel. Combining WavCor and FlatCor offers users a wide variety of panel options that can be tailored to meet performance requirements. Applications include furniture and cabinetry, interior signage, POP displays, doors and millwork, and many others.

CSU System Secures $171 Million in Bonds for Many LEED Buildings
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colorado State University (CSU) System secured more than $171 million in bond financing to support six construction projects that will transform the Fort Collins campus over the next few years. The bond package sold in less than four hours on Aug. 6.
