USGBC Names Top 10 Countries for LEED Outside U.S
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Green Building Council recently released a ranking of the top 10 countries for LEED outside the U.S.
Department of Agriculture Focuses on Rural Energy
WASHINGTON — To promote renewable energy in rural areas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is now accepting applications from rural small businesses and agricultural producers for funding to make energy efficiency improvements or to install renewable energy systems. The funding, provided by the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), is aimed at providing farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses with renewable energy options and expand the domestic energy economy.
Merced County Cheese Company Receives LEED Platinum
HILMAR, Calif. — In April, the Hilmar Cheese Company celebrated the LEED Platinum certification of the company’s headquarters and Innovation Center.
Company leaders believe the building is the first dairy industry LEED Platinum-certified building in the U.S.
Salt Waste Disposal Technologies Team
The Salt Waste Disposal Technologies Team — a collaboration among the Department of Energy program offices as well as laboratories, industry and academia — received the Secretary’s Achievement Award from the department for its work to combine fundamental and applied research, technology development and other elements to develop and deploy new technologies for the safe and cost-effective disposition of large volumes of radioactive salt waste.
