EIA: Energy Consumption to Increase 53 Percent by 2035

WASHINGTON — Worldwide energy consumption is expected to increase by 53 percent between 2008 and 2035, according to the International Energy Outlook 2011 released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The report presents updated projects for world energy markets through 2035 and predicts that much of the increase will be driven by strong economic growth in developing nations, especially China and India.

Solar Shading Panels

Sabic’s new solar shading panels made from lightweight Lexan Exell D polycarbonate sheets filter out direct sunlight to minimize solar gain and glare on computer screens. They also admit generous amounts of natural light and are expected to reduce building energy requirements and maintenance and lifespan costs, according to the company.

 
The Lexan Exell D sheet weighs half as much as glass and reduces the amount of material required for structural supports.
