Racetrack, Panasonic Agree to Green Sponsorship Deal

SONOMA, Calif. — Officials with Infineon Raceway in Sonoma County announced that racetrack officials will install solar panels to produce 41 percent of its energy needs.

Installation of the solar panels is part of a five-year sponsorship deal with Panasonic Corp. of North America. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

As part of the sponsorship, Infineon will shell out $3 million to buy the solar panels from Panasonic, while Panasonic will install a new message board on Highway 37 and promotional signs on several of the track’s buildings.

The message board will also be powered by solar energy.
