Green Collaboration Tool

CHARLESTON, S.C. — GreenWizard Inc., producer of a Web-based system that allows architects, engineers and contractors to cross-search, compare and document products for LEED and green commercial construction, has received $1.15 million in Series A private investment funding from Zygote Ventures of San Rafael, Calif., and other private investors.

GreenWizard will use the funds to build out and market its interactive, searchable database system of green products.

GreenWizard’s free software application allows members of the AEC community to search for products by name, CSI section, region and product type or identify products by green attributes, location and user goal. Additionally, the program allows users to request RFIs, RFQs and bids, determines important cost and LEED credit areas for projects and performs LEED calculations to find the amount of recycled and reused content in a project, the percentage of locally source materials and certified wood, and other items.

GreenWizard offers free product catalogues to manufacturers, determines cost and ROI of products for project owners, and completes a number of other tasks for both owners and manufacturers.

The company has more than 700 manufacturers and 120 AEC firms in its database.

“GreenWizard offers an entirely unique, cross-search and compare database for a construction market that is very eager for tools to navigate through LEED and other green-product choices,” says Jerry Fiddler, principal at Zygote Ventures.

Zygote led an angel investment round into GreenWizard last year. GreenWizard has also partnered with Scientific Certification Systems, GreenFormat, the Sustainable Materials Rating Technology and the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability.
