After almost a decade of leading the way in green building standards, the Town of Telluride is taking another step forward in updating its standards.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) awarded the Home Builders Association of Delaware’s Green Building Council as its New Program of the Year. The group, consisting of more than 50 builders, was honored at the 12th Annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Raleigh, N.C.

As building permits for single-family residential homes are trending up in Clark County, commissioners are wanting builders to think green. But only if the builders (and their customers) want to think green.

The nation’s Building and Construction Authority gave ZDNet Asia an update on its efforts to ensure at least 80 percent of new and existing buildings are eco-friendly 20 years from now.
