DuPont Introduces Enhanced Weather Barrier System

WILMINGTON, Del. — DuPont’s enhanced Tyvek weather barrier system that is designed to provide weather protection and insulation for commercial-building envelopes will help projects achieve points toward LEED-certification by improving energy efficiency, according to the company.

By incorporating weather system barriers and insulation solutions into building envelopes, commercial projects can earn points toward LEED certification in categories, such as energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and design and innovation process, according to the company.

DuPont’s CommercialWrap, which is a component enhancement of the company’s Tyvek weather system barrier, is a vapor-permeable weather barrier that features a textured surface designed to create a more efficient drainage plane. The barrier is designed to serve as the first layer of air and moisture protection after the exterior façade. Compatible for installation under all wall-claddings the barrier offers ultra-violet protection and tear and wind-load resistance.

Incorporating DuPont’s Elvaloy copolymer for enhanced flexibility and durability, the company’s Thru-Wall flashing, which is weather barrier system-compatible, is a self-adhered membrane designed to bridge the entire wall-assembly and create a drainage pathway to the building’s exterior.
