Amy Mays, IIDA, LEED AP, EDAC, joined HDR Architecture’s New York City Design Studio as interior design principal. With a significant body of experience and expertise in health care, Mays will lead interior design with a focus on health care projects in HDR’s offices across the Northeast.

With more than 20 years of experience in the architectural profession as a project manager, client liaison and practicing architect, Franz is responsible for growing the company’s market share major cities such as Charlotte, N.C.; Raleigh, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Charleston, S.C.; Atlanta; and Nashville, Tenn.
Mike Thomas has been named vice president and business development director at Environmental Systems Design Inc. (ESD), an international leader in the consulting-engineering design of high-performance building systems. Thomas will be responsible for sales, business development, thought leadership and client relation strategies for the firm, in particular in ESD’s commercial, institutional, health care and science practices.
San Diego-based Stellar Solar, a California commercial and residential solar integrators that started in 1998, announced the addition of sales professional to its sales team. Mihelich has been a top performer in the San Diego solar industry in sales and sales management for the past five years. His hiring comes at a time when Stellar Solar is experiencing the most growth in the company’s history.
Rich Driggs was named president of Heery International, an architecture, interior design, engineering, program management and design-build firm. Driggs is only the fourth leader of the company since George Heery founded the firm in 1952. In this role, Driggs is responsible for driving growth and overseeing the operations of the Atlanta-based company’s 22 offices around the country. He joined Heery in 2012 as the national director of construction management.
SmithGroupJJR, an architecture, engineering, interiors and planning firm, added Tyler Krehlik, AIA, LEED AP at its San Francisco office. Krehlik joins SmithGroupJJR as associate architect and sustainability advisor for the office’s Healthcare Studio. In his 15 years of practice, Krehlik has established himself as leader in sustainable architecture for both health care and laboratory environments. Krehlik’s primary focus is on the health impact of buildings.
Erlab, an innovator of non-ducted filtering laboratory fume hoods, appointed Ken Crooks to the position of North American sales manager of GreenFumeHood Technology’s filtered fume hoods.
Gkkworks, an architectural planning firm based in Irvine, Calif., hired Mike Helton as senior vice president. Helton’s primary responsibilities will be to evaluate and establish best practices for the processes of service delivery, with an emphasis on Integrated Services. In his new role, he will lead all integrated services of the firm with a focus on growth and optimal use of resources, and will work to improve efficiency and foster innovation.
Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, promoted Gary Baner, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, to senior associate at the firm’s Peoria, Ill., office. Baner is an experienced architect focused on providing a strong team approach with 33 years of diverse experience in architectural design. His expertise ranges from large, complex projects to small renovations for both public- and private-sector clients.
Dewberry, a professional services firm, hired Lidia Berger, MEM, LEED Fellow, LEED AP BD+C, LEED O+M, as national sustainability director. In her new role, Berger will be responsible for developing a framework for sustainable strategies and programs, driving Dewberry’s sustainability efforts and technical leadership.
