WASHINGTON — Green investments funded by a 2009 economic stimulus package are helping federal buildings use less energy even during harsh winters, according to analysis from the General Services Administration (GSA).
Read morePORTLAND, Ore. — The Green Building Initiative (GBI), based in Portland, Ore., has launched the Guiding Principles Compliance for New Construction (GPCNC) to assess a building’s sustainability. Developed in collaboration with federal government agencies, the guiding principles aim to significantly reduce the amount of time and effort required from federal agency personnel to achieve a green building certification, enabling staff to retain focus on the agency’s mission while concurrently measuring progress towards compliance, according to GBI.
Read moreWASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contracted with the Green Building Initiative to help the department meet the government’s sustainability mandate for federally owned or leased buildings. It will develop an assessment system and apply it to the 180 VA buildings currently undergoing Green Globes certification.
The Green Building Initiative, a nonprofit ANSI Accredited Standards Developer, has previously been contracted to develop building sustainability assessment and certification services within the federal sector.
