$250 Million for Renewable Energy Projects in N.Y.

ALBANY, NY — About $250 million is available in New York for renewable energy generation projects that reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a clean-energy economy, announced the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the Public Service Commission.
 
The program is funded by the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard and will be awarded competitively through a solicitation for electric generation projects using wind, hydroelectric, biomass or other clean-energy resources, according to a release from the state

$34 Million UON Building Awarded LEED Gold

OMAHA, Neb. — The University of Nebraska at Omaha achieved LEED Gold certification for Mammel Hall, the new home to the College of Business Administration and the first building in the University of Nebraska system to achieve LEED Gold.
 
The $34 million, 120,000-square-foot building opened in August 2010 after about two years of construction.
 
The building’s green features include a community-based design, access to public transportation, and daylight in 75 percent of the rooms.

Large San Francisco Solar Project Powers Gov Facilities

SAN FRANCISCO — One of the largest municipal solar installations in California was recently completed at Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco.
 
The solar installation is made up of 24,000 solar panels installed on top of the North Basin of the Sunset Reservoir that will generate up to 5 megawatts daily of renewable energy.
