WASHINGTON — A coalition of business leaders has voiced support of the federal Clean Power Plan.

Released in June 2014, the plan targets a reduction in national electricity sector emissions to an estimated 30 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a framework that will help states meet this target.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The amount of building applied photovoltaics (BAPV) installations will more than double by 2020, according to a market research report from Transparency Market Research.

The report, “Building Applied Photovoltaics (BAPV) Market – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast, 2013 – 2020,” gives analysis and a forecast of the global BAPV market in terms of annual installations (MW) and revenues. Annual installations in 2013 were 313.4 MW; this number is expected to jump to 716.7 MW by 2020.

Data Centers Aim for Energy Efficiency

MINNEAPOLIS — Renewable energy used to help power data centers is increasingly gaining interest, according to a new survey from Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction.

Mortenson surveyed corporate data center executives, data center developers and operators, and IT providers at the 2014 Data Center World Conference, which took place last September in Orlando. A majority — 84 percent — of respondents believe there is a need to consider renewable forms of energy, such as wind and solar, to manage energy needs, specifically power and cooling costs.
