REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — San Mateo County’s new $165 million jail facility, the Maple Street Correctional Facility, will soon be open for business. County officials, including Sheriff Greg Munks, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony March 2 and the first inmates will be transferred on March 19.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Almost two years after its May 2014 debut, Harvard University’s Tozzer Anthropology Building in Cambridge earned LEED Gold certification. The facility’s custom-engineered windows and curtainwall were placed in a staggered pattern throughout the brick- and copper-clad exterior, creating an abundance of natural light on the interior.
D. Stephenson Construction Inc., the largest African American-owned general contracting firm in Florida, announced the appointment of Joseph Sanches as the company’s new president. Sanches has been with the firm for almost three years, previously serving as executive vice president. Prior to joining the company, Sanches was chief of support operations for the Palm Beach County School District, where he oversaw more than $2 billion in capital improvements.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. — On Feb. 9, the Cape May County Board of Freeholders voted to reject all six bids it received for the construction of a new jail as all came in millions of dollars over budget. The county will rebid after modifications are made to the project to keep it within budget, reported Shore News Today.
Nicholas Rich has been named a vice president in the Seattle buildings sector office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization. In his new position, Rich will head the office’s electrical department, managing projects in Seattle and throughout the Northwest.
