WASHINGTON — The design of an office building significantly affects worker health, wellbeing and productivity, according to a new report.

Cleaning Companies Pilot Green Business Program

SAN FRANCISCO — Five San Francisco companies have successfully completed the first green business program in the county with training focused on custodial worker health.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment) honored the five companies last month for finishing a pilot program that aims to reduce workers’ exposure to harmful chemicals typically used in cleaning operations. A $74,500 EPA pollution prevention grant funded the program.

MaxLite introduced the Wet-Listed Marquee LED Lamp. The 2.5-watt LED lamp is ETL wet-listed and designed to replace inefficient incandescent and cold-cathode fluorescent (CCFL) lamps for outdoor signage applications at hotels, casinos, restaurants, resorts and amusement parks. The LED lamp uses a nominal 2.5 watts as a retrofit for standard incandescent, which consumes 11 watts, and CCFLs that typically consume three watts, which can result in an immediate reduction in power consumption by 16 to 77 percent or more.
