WASHINGTON — To recognize regions and states committed to producing high performing green buildings, the USGBC has released it’s annual ranking of the top 10 LEED states in the U.S. States were rated by information gathered in the 2010 U.S. Census and projects that were certified in 2013.

In 2012, the facility received LEED Platinum for new construction. However, the USGBC was also recently awarded the center LEED Platinum for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance.
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Green Building Initiative (GBI), based in Portland, Ore., has launched the Guiding Principles Compliance for New Construction (GPCNC) to assess a building’s sustainability. Developed in collaboration with federal government agencies, the guiding principles aim to significantly reduce the amount of time and effort required from federal agency personnel to achieve a green building certification, enabling staff to retain focus on the agency’s mission while concurrently measuring progress towards compliance, according to GBI.

Boston’s Margulies Perruzzi Architects has welcomed Roger Stein, AIA, LEED AP, as senior associate. With more than 25 years of experience in client management, architectural and interior design, master planning and construction administration, Stein has been responsible for the completion of a wide variety of projects. In his new position, Stein will manage MPA client projects and assist in business development and strategic planning for the firm.
