WASHINGTON — The Urban Land Institute is teaming up with the Greenprint Foundation to form the ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance, a research center about real estate and the environment.
Steven Bushnell, a senior director at California-based Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., has been appointed to the U.S. Green Building Council 2012 board of directors. At Firemans’ Fund, Bushnell is responsible for development of products and services for emerging industries. In 2006, he developed the first green building insurance coverage in the industry.
BURBANK, Calif. — Burbank Water and Power and AHBE Landscape Architects have completed the first phase of the state’s first sustainable utility campus.
Leaders of the water and electricity company saw an opportunity to go green when they replaced the power plant and substations on their campus in 2005.
DAVIS, Calif. — Companies that are open about being green appear to see their stock values rise as a result, according to a study by University of California researchers.
UC Davis professor Paul Griffin and his co-author, Yuan Sun of UC Berkeley, tracked the stock prices of several companies around the time they issued press releases about their greenhouse gas emissions and carbon reduction strategies.
In the days after the press releases were published, the companies saw their stock prices jump significantly, Griffin and Sun found.

She is also a Past President of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA), and a member of the Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB).
WASHINGTON — The Sustainable Sites Initiative has certified the first three projects under its new rating system that evaluates the sustainable design, construction and maintenance of built landscapes.
McGuireWoods LLP announced that David Ronn, a partner in the firm’s Houston office, has been named chair of the United States Green Building Council’s Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. Ronn has more than 20 years of experience in a wide range of corporate and securities matters, with concentrations in the energy and technology industries. He is certified as a LEED-accredited professional by the USGBC and owns the first LEED-H certified home in Houston.
