Green Manufacturing Network Formed

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Fabricators and Manufacturers Association announced its new Green Manufacturer Network, a professional organization of individual members aimed at driving the transition to environmentally friendly manufacturing.

“The mission of the Green Manufacturer Network is to be the principal resource to advance sustainable manufacturing,” said Edward Youdell, president and CEO of the of Rockford, Ill.-based association. “By joining this network, executives throughout the entire supply chain can learn practical strategies and affordable measures to run sustainable operations, as well as discover new business opportunities in the green marketplace.”

The cost to join the network is $150. Members of the group will receive discounts on conferences, workshops, and webinars, along with event announcements, discussions and access to sustainability resources.

In a recent FMA member survey, 51 percent of respondents indicated their company has a committed sustainability program with dedicated staff and performance metrics, according to Jim Warren, membership and education director of the association.

“An additional 38 percent of respondents indicated their company was moving toward full commitment to sustainable practices,” Warren said. “They’ve recognized that being green directly impacts the bottom line in a positive way. Further, good environmental stewardship sends a powerful message to current and potential customers of one’s dedication to sustainability in their communities.”
