Software Company to Move Into $40 Million Green Campus

SAN DIEGO — Mountain View-based software developer Intuit, producer of TurboTax and QuickBooks, among other products, will establish its regional headquarters at a new $40 million green campus in Carmel Valley.

The 690,000-square-foot site will house three four-story buildings that will incorporate sustainable design and construction features, and Intuit will seek LEED certification for the project, officials say.

The 375,000 square feet of office space will feature energy efficient lighting systems and water conserving plumbing. Buildings will also be outfitted with recycled carpeting, renewable bamboo wood paneling and environmentally friendly adhesives and paints.

A four-level parking structure will provide 1,600 spaces. The more than 480,000-square-foot structure will feature solar panel arrays that provide both energy and shade.

Each building is designed with adaptable, interior floor plates to accommodate changing space needs in the future. Landscaped public areas will connect buildings with passageways, gardens and courtyards.

Amenities, such as basketball and volleyball courts, walking paths, an amphitheater and barbecue area will be integrated into the campus.

DPR Construction, which is responsible for tenant improvement work on the site’s new shell and core buildings, is separating and recycling drywall, lumbar, metal, plastic and other materials to reduce the waste generated from the project.

The project is due for completion in fall 2007.
