Oregon School Sells Carbon Credits to Chevy

ASHLAND, Ore. — Southern Oregon University (SOU) is taking part in Chevrolet’s carbon-reduction initiative. The school is selling carbon credits for the new LEED certified Raider Village residence halls to the car manufacturer for one year.
While Chevy gets bragging rights for its eco-friendly initiatives, SOU gets money to reduce its campus carbon footprint.

USGBC Predicts Green Building to Represent Half U.S. Construction

WASHINGTON — The USGBC released a new report, LEED in Motion: People and Progress, which shows that green building may represent more than half of all commercial and institutional construction by 2016. This is the first of three reports in the LEED in Motion series and it specifically examines individuals and organizations that are driving and benefitting from green building and using graphics, charts and other tools to showcase a positive outcome.

USGBC Adds LEED Pilot Credits

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Green Building Council recently added several pilot credits to the LEED Pilot Credit Library.

The LEED Pilot rating system is designed to test new and revised LEED credit language, alternative compliance paths and new or innovative green building technologies and concepts. It offers a way for those testing the credits to provide feedback and comments, which is then used to evolve and refine pilot credits with the goal of adding successful credits to the USGBC member balloted LEED rating system.
