Colin Rohlfing, associate AIA, LEED AP BD + C, has joined HDR as vice president and director of sustainable development in the Chicago office. In his new role, Rohlfing is responsible for the overall sustainable design leadership of the practice and provides global sustainable consulting thought leadership to enhance core services.
Mark Kranz, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the SmithGroupJJR board of directors. Kranz is a design principal at SmithGroupJJR’s Phoenix office. A member of the science and technology practice, Kranz was project designer for the $135 million Energy Systems Integration Facility at the National Renewable Energy Lab, which earned LEED Platinum. Kranz is designer for the new Mechanical Engineering Building at the University of Texas at Dallas and the new County of San Diego Crime Laboratory.
Christopher G. Kirchner, PE, LEED AP, ASHRAE HBDP, BEMP, has joined Vanderweil Engineers as a mechanical team leader and project manager. Kirchner has 23 years of experience in the design of high-performance mechanical systems for a wide variety of government, commercial, institutional, health care, laboratory and industrial projects.
AECOM, headquartered in Los Angeles, appointed Christopher O. Ward as senior vice president, chief executive, in New York. In this role, Ward leads strategic growth and profitability of the design and consulting services group in the New York City metro area. His areas of responsibility include transportation, water and wastewater, environment, power, and buildings and places, which encompasses more than 1,600 architects, engineers, scientists and support staff.
Mark Foster has joined Green Generation Solutions LLC, (GreenGen) a Washington-based company experienced in engineering and implementing energy efficiency plans in commercial properties, as manager for the company’s European market. In this capacity, Foster supports GreenGen’s European operations, providing a full range of energy, water and carbon reduction solutions for GreenGen’s commercial property owner clients in Europe.
Green Seal, an environmental certification organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., announced that Joanne Fox-Przeworski, Ph.D., has been elected chair of its board of directors.
Marlene M. Liriano, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, vice president and a director of interior design for HOK in Miami, has been appointed as the 2015-2016 president-elect of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Liriano joined the IIDA board of directors on July 1, 2014 for a two-year term. She has been an IIDA member for more than 10 years and has won numerous design awards from the organization.
Paul Griesemer, AIA, LEED AP, has joined HNTB Corporation’s central division architecture practice as senior project manager and associate vice president. He will be based in HNTB’s headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. Griesemer brings more than 30 years of experience designing stadiums, convention facilities and Olympic venues.
Ron Whalen, LEED AP, was promoted to vice president at Orlando-based general contracting and construction management firm Roger B. Kennedy Inc. A seasoned Florida construction veteran with 25 years of experience, Whalen joined the firm in October 2014 as project executive for pre-construction services. He is a licensed Florida-certified general contractor.
HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) hired Peter Dahl, Ph.D., LEED AP, as a senior associate in the energy and infrastructure group. Dahl will work in HGA’s Minneapolis office, where he will lead sustainable operations in the firm’s three core practice groups: health care, public/corporate and arts/community/higher education.
