UC San Diego Opens LEED Platinum-Designed Building

SAN DIEGO — The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is celebrating the completion of the new $113 million Health Sciences Biomedical Research Facility. Designed by the Portland, Ore., office of ZGF Architects and constructed by McCarthy Building Companies Inc, which holds local offices, the 196,000-square-foot building is aiming to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

EMP Museum Building Gains Green Recognition

SEATTLE — The EMP Administrative Office Building for the EMP Museum added another sustainable achievement to its record. The 51,200-square-foot, four-story office building recently gained LEED Platinum certification, was named the first Salmon-Safe-certified office building in Seattle and was also designated a 2013 ENR Best Project Award for office, retail or mixed-use developments.

Energy Innovation Center Receives LEED ‘Double Platinum’

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Gas & Electric (SDGE) announced that its Energy Innovation Center (EIC), which showcases smart energy initiatives and green building practices, has now received two LEED Platinum certifications from the USGBC.

In 2012, the facility received LEED Platinum for new construction. However, the USGBC was also recently awarded the center LEED Platinum for Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance.
