Cleveland Clinic Earns Highest Energy Star Award
CLEVELAND — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Cleveland Clinic with its highest Energy Star Award — the 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year-Sustained Excellence Award — for the clinic’s leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. An Energy Star partner since 2008, Cleveland Clinic will be awarded for its many environmental efforts at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on March 26.
U.S. and Netherlands Team Up on Sustainable Development
WASHINGTON — The U.S. will collaborate with the Kingdom of the Netherlands to create more disaster prevention strategies and green developments in flooding-prone parts of both countries. Earlier this month, U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan and the Netherlands’ Minster of Infrastructure and the Environment Mealnie Schults van Haegen signed an agreement that declared the two countries would work more closely together on issues related to disaster mitigation, sustainable and integrated planning, and water management infrastructure.
Low-Voltage Power Supply
LumaStream unveils its simplified LED lighting system: the plug-in, low-voltage power supply. The UL-listed driver or dimmer is a digitally controlled power source for LED applications, providing an efficient, reliable and cost-effective lighting solution. With full control and connections to luminaires and sensors up to 200 feet away, the system is akin to a stereo amplifier with speakers. Featuring a solid die-cast housing assembly with a sleek architectural profile, the energy-efficient fixture delivers up to 60,000 hours of life and uses less than 50 percent energy, according to the company.

An 18-year industry veteran, Mark Konchar, was promoted to senior vice president at Balfour Beatty Construction, where he will help lead the company’s areas of innovation, integration and energy. Overseeing the development and implementation of the firm’s best practices, Konchar will work with project teams across a national and global network. Most recently, the vice president of National Integration, Konchar holds a Ph. D.
