Maureen Guttman, AIA was named the new executive director of its Building Codes Assistance Project, a joint initiative of the Alliance to Save Energy, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy and the Natural Resources Defense Council. An architect with 25 years of experience in energy-efficient and green building design, Guttman is also the Alliance’s new senior director of building programs.
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Google Inc. unplugged its Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal (RE<C) initiative, part of general cutbacks at the company.
The initiative, which was developed as an effort to drive down the cost of renewable energy, launched in 2007 through google.org, the company’s charitable arm. The initiative featured an RE<C engineering team focused on researching improvements to solar power.

Emerson Industrial Automation named Brandon Locklear as regional sales manager for Latin America, based in Sunrise, Fla. Formerly sales manager for the North American market, Locklear will support the company’s market growth initiatives in the region. A graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Locklear was involved in technical international sales for five years, working with Latin America’s electrical power transmission distribution industry.
