Aluminum Use Grows in Sustainable Design & Construction

CHICAGO — The Empire State Building, constructed in 1930 to 1932, was the first building to make major use of aluminum. Since then, the use and value of aluminum has increased drastically in green design and sustainable construction. Gas Heat Pump

The 15-ton, multizone gas heat pump by IntelliChoice Energy heats indoor spaces by pulling heat from the outside air into the indoor air. The pump can be switched into reverse to move heat from the indoor air into the outdoor air to cool down the indoor space. A compressor, which evaporates and condenses refrigerant, enables the transfer of heat from one space to another. Unlike an electric heat pump, which uses an electric motor to power the compressor, a GHP (gas heat pump) uses clean-burning natural gas in a combustion engine to drive its compressor.
