California Faucets’ new version of StyleTherm has set the standard for thermostatic valve technology to meet the California Green Building Standards Code. The development of the thermostatic valve fulfills California water conservation requirements while providing users with a spa-like shower, according to the company. Unlike pressure balance systems, the CALGreen version StyleTherm uses a two-outlet diverter valve for volume control, allowing independent on/off and flow rate control. Each application can flow at a rate of up to two gallons per minute.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Energy Commission approved an energy efficiency standard aimed at reducing the amount of energy wasted from battery chargers commonly used to power cell phones, laptop computers, power tools and other devices — the first in the nation, according to the commission.
The requirements for consumer chargers used in cell phones, personal care devices and power tools will go into effect Feb 1, 2013, and industrial charger compliance for battery-operated machines like forklifts is required by January 1, 2014.

The new in-floor Micro Canal radiator from Jaga Climate Systems provides heat exchange that operates with quiet fans, ensuring that heating is virtually noiseless. Guardian introduces SunGuard SNR 43, a new glass coating for commercial applications that offers a high light-to-solar gain ratio and low solar heat gain coefficient, according to the company. SNR 43 joins Guardian’s other SunGuard architectural glass products that help improve energy performance and help projects achieve LEED certification. It features a visible light transmission of 43 percent and solar control. The coating lets in plenty of light, while low SHGC meets the latest energy code standards, according to the company.
