Hess Tower Achieves LEED Platinum

HOUSTON — Hess Tower, a business structure in central downtown Houston, has surpassed the LEED Gold mark and reached LEED Platinum with the completion of high-performance glazing. Joining only a handful of other buildings in Texas with that rating, the 29-story Class-A office space was able to reach the highest rank largely due to the glass and metal façade done by Rogers, Minn.-based Quality Metalcrafts and Wausau, Wis.-based company, Linetec.

Smithsonian Galleries Feature Eco-Friendly Lighting

HOUSTON — Toshiba International Corp.’s LED Lighting Systems division announced a joint effort with the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Toshiba supplied the museum with LED lamps designed to allow visitors to experience the latest in eco-friendly illumination while lowering energy and maintenance costs for the galleries.

Houston District Receives $90K Efficiency Reward

 
HOUSTON — As part of its energy efficiency incentive program, Centerpoint energy company recently awarded a Houston school district more than $93,000 for efforts to reduce its peak electricity demand.
 
Spring Independent School District received the check as a reward for the total estimated annual kilowatt-hour savings at 10 of its schools.
