Newly Designed Nickelodeon Building Targets LEED Gold

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Jan. 11 for Nickelodeon’s more than 200,000-square-foot new building in Burbank.

BURBANK, Calif. — In a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Jan. 11, Nickelodeon officially opened the doors to its newly expanded building in Burbank. The over 200,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, sustainable complex is now home to more than 700 Nickelodeon employees and over 20 show productions, according to a statement.

The new five-story building includes a redesigned 23,000-square-foot courtyard, and the newly renovated, original 72,000-square-foot studio that first opened in Burbank in 1998. The facility is targeting LEED Gold certification, and in order to accomplish this, lighting power is reduced by over 50 percent through efficient LED fixtures, lighting controls and use of daylighting, according to a statement. In addition, priority was also placed on use of healthy and environmental building materials, such as low-emitting flooring and paint, and use of products with high recycled and regional content.
